Photo Shoot

Eileen is going to be in three different ads in the Monroe Academy Football program.

Last week was the deadline for submitting the ads.  True to form, we had to scurry around late last week to take photos of Eileen.

Despite our procrastination and the resulting time crunch, David and I had a great time taking pictures of Eileen.

For the Steele, Steele, and Steele ad, which will go on the inside cover of the football program, we are going to use this picture:
Eileen and Cameron for the Steele, Steele & Steele ad
We took these other pictures for the Monroe Sausage ads and the Hines, Steele, and Steele ads.  I'm not sure which picture will be used for which ad, but I love them all:

...not so sure about this

A Smile!
I think we used this picture.
Another great picture.
Thanks to Aunt Amy for the outfit & bow!

Photo efforts on the front porch swing were not very successful

Too much distraction on the brick patio
WAY too much distraction
Eileen loves the rocking chair!
SMILE!

A great picture!  I think we used this one....

Octagenarians on the Floor

Subtitle: But not in the "Help, I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up" kind of way....

As I've noted, Eileen had been blessed to have met all eight of her great-grandparents.

All seven of her great-grandparents who are still living are in great health, something we are so thankful for.  They all are willing and able to rock Eileen, bounce her, feed her, play with her, and do everything else to spoil this baby rotten.

And two of her oldest great-grandparents, Mamaw (my dad's mom) and Deda (David's dad's dad) do not hesitate to get on the floor to entertain and play with their great-granddaughter.

At the beach, Deda got down on the floor to coax Eileen out from under the end table:

On her most recent visit, Mamaw joined Eileen on her play mat:

And in May, Mammaw got down on the floor to entertain Eileen:

Those are some spry great-grandparents!

Tennessee Comes South

Mamaw & Eileen

This past weekend, my dad and his mom (Mamaw) came to visit Eileen.
Unfortunately, my mom had to work (boo!) and could not come.  Eileen missed her!

Neither of them could believe how much Eileen has changed since they last saw her three weeks ago!

Eileen was SO much more playful and SO much more willing to play with everyone.

My dad took a few minutes on Saturday to relax with a nap

This big girl can use a sippy cup!
She's also learned how to crawl and pull up in the past three weeks.

Eileen still gets my dad to walk her around the house.
She also likes to teethe on the end table.

Eileen also chewed on the Wii remote

...and she chewed on the iPhone

We were so happy that they came to visit, and we can't wait to see them when we get to go to Tennessee in a few weeks!

Eight Months Old

On Friday, July 22, Eileen turned EIGHT MONTHS OLD!

Eileen lunging for Mommy and her camera
It seems like just yesterday that I was doing her seven month old post.  This month has flown by!
Eileen weighed 20 lb., 10 oz and is wearing size 12 month clothes.
She is crawling (it's more of a scoot, but it works) everywhere.  She never sits still, which explains the lack of any cute, posed pictures.

Eileen can pull herself up to standing.

She's gotten past her separation anxiety.  Eileen is back to being a very friendly, very curious little girl.

Curious girl crawled under the ottoman... and got stuck!
I can't pinpoint why I feel this way, but it seems that this month has been the most dramatic as far as the changes that Eileen has undergone.  It has become clear that I will not be the mommy of a baby much longer- Eileen is quickly becoming a little girl!

Eileen and Mamaw

She has opinions.  She has a will.  And she is STUBBORN!

My dad playing with Eileen
Eileen likes to "talk."  She babbles loudly, and she babbles often.  Eileen really seems to enjoy the sound of her voice.
Eileen and my dad
This month, we had some sleep problems.  For about two weeks, Eileen and I were up every hour throughout the night.  Ugh.  In the past five days, things seem to have improved.  I think that her little mind was developing so rapidly this month that she could not sleep well (that's my completely unscientific, non-medical justification for why my child would not sleep opinion).

It has been a wonderful month and David and I cannot wait to see what Eileen will do next!
