Three Months Old

Today, Eileen is THREE MONTHS OLD!

I can't believe it.

She's already getting SO big, and she has quite the personality.
She wears size 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.  I can't believe she was ever a little 6 lb., 9 oz. newborn whose newborn clothes and diapers were too big for her!

Eileen is still very curious about the world around her.

So much so that she fights sleep because she is afraid she will miss something.  And then my tired little baby has a meltdown.  Poor kid.

Eileen still hates tummy time, so she really hasn't tried crawling.

Not so happy about tummy time

However, she can hold her head up perfectly and can't wait to sit up and to stand up and walk around.
She's discovered her hands.  Her favorite thing to do is to put them into her mouth.  However, she also bats at and grabs for everything she sees.
She can take her pacifier out of her mouth, but she can't quite figure out how to get it back in.  Which makes for a very frustrated baby.

Those cheeks!   LOVE!
Eileen has brought so much joy to all of us.  She is a wonderful, perfect blessing!

Walkin' Around

Because spring has stuck around for us here in south Alabama, Eileen and I have been enjoying long walks every day.  And it's been wonderful.

The walks are helping me on my quest to lose the last of this baby weight.  On my first week of Weight Watchers, I lost 1.8 pounds.  Of course, I would love to report that I lost 20 pounds in one week, but that's not really how Weight Watchers works.  All in all, I'm pretty pleased.

Speaking of walking, Eileen really, really wants to stand up and walk.

She doesn't seem so interested in crawling.

So we have been putting her in her walker.  And she loves it!

Of course, the walker is for older babies, so Eileen is not tall enough for her feet to touch the floor.
David and I solved that problem by putting a law book under her feet so she has something to push off of.

It's a book on Federal Income Tax.  I think it's also Eileen's first political statement.

The walker can capture Eileen's attention for quite a while.  It makes her such a happy baby!

Sunday, we got a double dose of church: early mass in Greenville and then church in Beatrice.  Eileen behaved like an angel through both services.

Eileen did require several wardrobe changes, but I didn't remember to get pictures.

Sunday night, we all watched Duke beat Georgia Tech.

You might say that the Yellow Jackets were Ramblin' WreckED.

And the Blue Devils are once again ranked #1!

Eileen loves her bib & shoes.  Thanks Whitney!

We are going to try to transition Eileen from her bassinet in our room to her crib in her own room.

The video monitor is set up and we've removed all of the "unsafe" things like bumpers, pillows, and toys from the crib.

It looks kind of stark and depressing to me.

But SAFETY FIRST!

Eileen loves her crib and really enjoys the extra space.

But moving Eileen to her own room is going to be hard on her momma.

Last night, Eileen decided that the best place to sleep was on Daddy.

I love these pictures!  Those two are so sweet together.

Spring is Here!

...and we hope it's here to stay!

Wednesday night, we watched Duke beat UVA.

Fist Bump?

Thursday was a pretty low-key day, but we did manage to go through four different outfits.  Our washing machine is really getting a work-out.

Friday was a lot of fun- Eileen and I went to Monroeville and had lunch with Emilie, Allison, Stephanie, and Stephanie's little girl Mae.  Mae was born 8 days after Eileen, and it was the first time the girls got to meet.

Both little girls exhibited perfect manners during lunch.  They were too cute!

It was Emilie's birthday!

Friday afternoon, we all walked to Mumsie and Daddy Dave's house to visit the Kistels.

We didn't get to take many pictures because Eileen got a little bit fussy.

Eileen loves to kick off her shoes

Eileen sat in her Bumbo and tried on her sun hat.  She was too cute!

Today, Eileen and I tried to shop in Montgomery while David attended the state Republican meeting.

Eileen doesn't like to shop.  Yet.

Then we walked around beautiful Huntingdon College with Mumsie and Daddy Dave while we waited on David.  We wound up our trip with lunch at Wentzell's.

We're finally back home and settling in for a relaxing evening.

My Baby has Skills

We've had beautiful weather this week... Sunny & 70ยบ!

Eileen and I have been taking long walks around Beatrice with our dogs Beau & Lucy.

On Tuesday, I started Weight Watchers.  Until I lose the rest of my baby weight, I'm going to post my progress on the blog every Monday so that I'm held accountable.  I think that will help me stick to the diet.

Today, I took several pictures of Eileen:

Eileen is really trying to do new things.

She does little "sit-ups" where she brings her legs up and lifts her head/chest up.  She is trying to sit up.

Eileen still HATES tummy time.

She does like to sit up like a big girl (with the help of her boppy pillow).

Eileen used her walker for the first time today.  She's too little to actually walk in it or to reach the toys on the tray, but the walker lets her sit up and she seemed to love it!  She was captivated by the spinning Elmo toy.

Lately, Eileen's favorite thing to do is "stand up".  She can mostly support her weight but you have to hold her to help her balance.  It makes her so happy to "stand."

Visitors from Tennessee!

Since we couldn't go to Tennessee due to snow, my parents came to Alabama this past weekend to see Eileen.

They hadn't seen her since Christmas.

She's changed a lot since Christmas.

First, Eileen is now wearing size 3-6 month clothing.

My parents met us at Gaines' Ridge for supper on their way to Beatrice.  When we finally got home, both my mom and Eileen were worn out.  They fell asleep together on the couch.

On Saturday, they were both rested and ready to play.

My dad discovered Angry Birds. He played that game on the iPad all weekend.

David surfing the internet; Dad playing Angry Birds.

My mom just wanted to play with Eileen.

Dad played with Eileen too.  She's more fun than Angry Birds.

My parents couldn't get over Eileen's chubby little cheeks.  They are adorable!

Our pound puppy Lucy has been getting out of her pen.  We've secured the fence and the bottom of the pen and still she could escape.  On Saturday, my dad and David went to see how she was getting out:

On Sunday, we all got up early and went to mass.

Eileen all dressed up for church.
The gown was David's.

Me, Eileen, and David.  Look at those cheeks!

After playing with my parents all weekend, Eileen was very tired.  She slept straight through the night on Sunday night- from 9:30 pm until 6:00 am!

On a much more somber note, David's great uncle David Platt passed away on Friday.  Mr. Platt was Memommy's little brother.  We all attended his funeral today and Eileen tried to cheer her Memommy up.

We're looking forward to a more relaxed week.  The baby books say that Eileen is supposed to hit (another) growth spurt any day now.  I'm dreading it- the growth spurts and accompanying fussiness make mom and baby a little grumpy.  Also, my baby is growing up way too fast!
